Independent medical examinations and reports

Independent assessment of injury and impairment

Independent Medical Examinations and Reports may be sought by the TAC, Worksafe, insurers, employers and solicitors, as an independent opinion regarding the nature and extent of a claimant’s injuries.

Types of IMEs provided by Melbourne Pain Group include:

Work Capacity Assessments

These are often sought by insurers to determine the degree of an individual’s injuries and the extent to which they may continue to perform activities at work.

Whole Person Impairment Assessments (WPIs)

These are conducted in matters where compensation is sought for the permanent impairment of part(s) of an individual’s body. The impairment is calculated in terms of the extent to which an injury impacts your whole person. Thresholds must be met before compensation is approved.

Total and Permanent Disability Assessments (TPDs)
